Wobbe index with the RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 - precision for gas measurement technology

The Wobbe index is a key parameter in gas measurement technology and describes the quality of fuel gases such as natural gas or mixed gas. It was developed in 1926 by the gas engineer Goffredo Wobbe and is named after him. The Wobbe index makes it possible to compare different gases with each other by taking into account the ratio of calorific value and specific weight of a gas. This is particularly important to ensure that a uniform energy output is guaranteed in different gas supply systems.

The RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 devices offer a precise, reliable and user-friendly solution for determining the Wobbe index. The RGQ 5 is a sophisticated system for stationary applications, while the RGQ 3 is a mobile version offering the same functionality in a compact and portable format. Both devices enable the precise analysis of fuel gases without the need for time-consuming calibration.
Precise analysis: Exact determination of gas quality.
High accuracy: Calibration with calibration gases.
Efficient measurement: Fast results through combustion.
Gas comparison: Different gases can be used without adjustment.
Indispensable in industry: important for gas processing and energy.
Constant calorific values: Stable energy supply guaranteed.

Precisely determine the quality of gas

The Wobbe index plays a crucial role in industrial gas measurement technology, especially in system solutions developed for the analysis and monitoring of fuel gases. The RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 are used to precisely determine and compare the quality of fuel gases such as natural gas or mixed gas, which is of great importance in industrial applications where a constant energy supply is required. By taking into account the ratio of calorific value and density of a gas, it is possible to determine whether different gas mixtures can be used in the same combustion processes without adjustments.

In practice, the Wobbe index is measured efficiently and without time-consuming sample preparation. Both devices, RGQ 5 and RGQ 3, are designed to enable fast and accurate analysis by using state-of-the-art sensor technology and software.

The use of these devices is essential for processes where different gas sources are used and a consistent energy output is required. They ensure an efficient and reliable energy supply and prevent potential disruptions in complex industrial gas networks.

Advantages in gas measurement technology

The Wobbe index offers numerous advantages in gas measurement technology, especially in industrial applications where different fuel gases need to be used efficiently. One of the biggest advantages of the Wobbe index is the ability to precisely evaluate the quality of different fuel gases and thus keep the energy output stable. With the RGQ 5 and RGQ 3, this is optimally supported by their high measuring accuracy and versatility.

One of the technical features of calorific value measurement is the output in specific units, which makes it possible to evaluate the energy content of a gas. The RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 devices measure the Wobbe index precisely in units such as 1kWh/Nm³ (equivalent to 3.6 MJ/Nm³) or in international standards such as Btu/scf, making them ideal for use in global applications and different standard systems.

Thanks to their precise measurement, easy handling and the possibility of mobile use (RGQ 3), these devices are indispensable instruments for ensuring a consistent energy supply in complex gas networks and industrial applications worldwide.
