Gas Measurement Products

The term GAS MEASUREMENT PRODUCTS refers to physical or chemical measuring methods with which a quantitative and/or qualitative gas analysis can be performed. While gas analyses in the early days of this measuring technology were mostly based on laboratory methods, today almost exclusively automatically operating gas measuring instruments are used.

Flow measurement is critical at all points of the supply chain. Both fiscal and custody transfer measurements are needed at many points along the supply chain, but the appropriate products to make those measurements are critical for accurate flow measurement.

In the industrial sector and among utilities, it is important to determine the composition of natural gas in order to determine its calorific value. Process gas chromatographs are used here in custody transfer. Depending on the model, between 9 and 14 different components are measured. The devices have one or more measuring mechanisms installed. Hydrogen can be measured up to 20% in custody transfer. The devices can analyse up to four gas flows.

In these devices the measured volume flow is calculated into a standard volume. Taking the gas analysis values into account, the energy content is then calculated using specific formulas. The computers can apply a variety of different calculation formulas depending on the requirements.

Compact volume correctors with adapted functions are available for smaller systems. Flow computers with a very wide range of applications are used for large plants.
