Gas calorimeter - Gas analysis systems as an alternative to the calorimeter

Traditional gas calorimeters are precise measuring devices that determine the amount of energy released during the combustion of a gas. They measure the energy content through the direct combustion of a gas sample and are mainly used in the chemical industry, energy supply and research. In contrast, modern systems such as the RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 offer an innovative alternative, as they determine the calorific value of a gas without combustion.

The RGQ 5, a stationary system, and the RGQ 3, its mobile variant, use advanced sensor technologies for gas analysis. These devices measure precise gas quality parameters such as calorific value, methane number and Wobbe index based on the physical properties of the gas. This eliminates the need for the complex calorimetry processes that require combustion, making operation significantly more efficient and environmentally friendly.

For industrial system solutions

In industrial applications, the RGQ 5 and RGQ 3 are increasingly replacing conventional calorimeters. They offer the same results - precise determination of the calorific value, methane number and Wobbe index - but without the disadvantages of gas combustion. This makes the devices ideal for use in energy-intensive processes where continuous monitoring and control of the gas quality is required.

The RGQ 5 is particularly suitable for stationary applications where permanent gas analysis in real time is required. Examples include process control systems in power plants, chemical plants or gas networks. The RGQ 3, as a mobile version, offers the same functionality in a portable format and is therefore perfect for flexible use on site, for example for checking gas pipes or in mobile systems.
