RMG Group builds a new production hall at RMG Messtechnik, Butzbach

Ground-breaking ceremony at RMG Messtechnik GmbH, Butzbach

On Wednesday, 5th March 2008, it was Michael Merle, the mayor of the central German town of Butzbach, who took the symbolic spade and thus gave the starting signal for the construction of another production hall for RMG's subsidiary RMG Messtechnik GmbH at Butzbach.

Full order books, the extension of the product range and the introduction of the new European Measuring Instruments Directive (MID) convinced the management in summer 2007 that another workshop hall and a new high-pressure test stand were needed.

The completion of the building is scheduled for August 2008. Installation, commissioning and official acceptance by the competent German authorities of the new high-pressure test stand will follow suit so that it should go into operation in October 2008.

The new MID provides for mandatory high-pressure tests at 4 bar and up within the European Union. The need for high-pressure tests is, obviously, going to increase. The new hall and test stand should reduce the order lead time by eliminating transport to and storage at external test stands. What's more, a test stand right in the house should help to save time and money with product management, design and development.

Next to the test stand, the new hall will contain 835 m² of production space complete with a crane runway and up-to-date paint shop. EUR 2.5 million have been earmarked for the new building and test stand.

Dr. Henning Bähren, CEO of RMG Group, and the general managers of RMG Messtechnik GmbH, Jost Körte and Albrecht Jakob, look forward to a bright future: "For the next four or five years, we expect sales of measuring instruments to double. The update of our operational processes and new production facilities will come right in time."

RMG Group's million-euro investment into the measuring instruments subsidiary at Butzbach will not only create new jobs for skilled workers here and now, it will also serve as a solid platform for the future development of the company.
